Fred Thompson is the Chief Strategic Officer of Imali Wealth Group, bringing deep experience in Total Quality Management, quality management systems, organisational performance, operational excellence and institutional transformation.

He is an international Total Quality Management consultant and KATA Coach with more than 25 years of experience assisting organisations to understand and implement quality management systems as a business strategy. His work has supported organisations across multiple sectors, with a strong focus on using quality as a practical tool for competitiveness, innovation and sustainable performance.

Fred has been consulting in Africa since 1993 and has developed a strong understanding of the continent’s opportunities and challenges in building globally competitive organisations. His view is that Total Quality Management can be a powerful pathway for African businesses, institutions and communities to improve performance, strengthen systems and compete more effectively in global markets.

He is recognised for his leadership in advancing a three-dimensional quality perspective, which brings together standards and specifications, the ability to understand silent or unwritten expectations, and the creativity required to challenge mediocrity and unlock innovation.

Fred’s background also includes technical grounding as a tool-and-die journeyman artisan, with certification recognised across industries such as automotive, aerospace and agricultural implements. This gives him a rare combination of strategic quality-management insight and practical industrial experience.
