Mfundo Hlophe is a South African technology entrepreneur, social innovator and the Founder and Executive Chairman of Imali Wealth Group, an integrated holding company building blockchain, fintech, agritech, digital education and enterprise development solutions for inclusive growth.

With more than 15 years of experience in Information Technology, including over 10 years in executive leadership and management, Mfundo’s work is driven by transformation, sustainability and performance. His academic background spans Information Management, Sustainable Finance and Leadership & Sustainability, including participation in a Sustainable Finance programme with the Oxford University Public Sector Academy and ongoing MBA studies in Leadership and Sustainability with the University of Cumbria.

Through Imali Wealth Group and its ventures — including Imali Blockchain, Imali Crypto, Agrismart Villages, Agrismart Hubs and the DIDS Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship — Mfundo focuses on designing practical, scalable technology that unlocks opportunity for township and rural communities, SMMEs, cooperatives, young innovators and emerging entrepreneurs.

In partnership with eThekwini Municipality and the Technology Innovation Agency, Mfundo co-leads the DIDS Incubator, a smart space for grassroots innovators, digital start-ups and enterprise development. The initiative supports youth- and women-led enterprises through skills development, incubation, mentorship, prototype support and commercialisation pathways.

Under the Imali Blockchain and Imali Crypto portfolio, Mfundo is advancing the responsible use of blockchain, decentralised finance and tokenisation in real-economy sectors such as agriculture, environmental management and the blue economy. This includes work around Agrismart Hubs, Agri-Smart value chains, carbon credit opportunities and digital asset infrastructure that can channel new forms of capital into local development.

Beyond building products and platforms, Mfundo is passionate about ecosystem building. He convenes partners across government, academia, the private sector and civil society to co-create practical solutions, demystify emerging technologies and mentor entrepreneurs on turning ideas into bankable, investor-ready ventures.

His long-term vision is to help position KwaZulu-Natal and the eThekwini region as a continental hub for inclusive digital innovation connected to markets and partnerships across Africa, Europe and the United States.
